The Animated GIF Invasion

August 17, 2011

They’re back!
The dreaded animated GIFs from the early 90s have reared their pixelated heads once more.
This time, they’re being used by some very clever people piggy-backing on the old-is-new-again tech trend.

WIRED even had a DIY article about animated GIFs, offering tips & tutorials for photoshop, flash, and other online tools.

BEST GIF FEATURES
Easy to Make – There are many online tools, and mobile apps to help you create these vintage wonders.
Email Friendly – Though not in every mail client, most animated GIFS actually maintain their animation when sent via email.
Portable Video – These lightweight images act as mini-video clips to use as you see fit.
Works in Google+ Though not in Facebook…

A  less fun version is available on YouTube for those without Chrome.

Merce Cunningham App (We didn’t, but we wish we did.)

July 25, 2011

The arts journal, 2wice, recently released its first app, “Merce Cunningham Event,” as a tribute to the late choreographer. It is a beautiful collection of photography, video, and interviews. You may not know that most of us here at FOUR32C double as artists — with dancers and choreographers out numbering the musicians and poets. Imagine our envy!
